Pricing - A Breakdown of Estimated Costs
For most work you can consider there to be "content" time
and "editing" time. I basically charge $65 - $75 per hour
for content or editing time, although content time can be higher depending
on the need for a second camera, lighting, sound gear and additional
personnel."Content" time is shooting video, capturing stills, "B-roll"
or pre-shot footage; creating and lighting
the set; and preparing the set for proper audio. Content time
starts at arrival at the "local" set (meaning travel within 10 miles of vfwTech offices) and includes bringing in the gear, viewing and
setting the scene for the shoot as well as shooting the set with a 1 person
crew - me. Additional crew and cameras, if needed, are extra.
"Editing" time includes writing script if needed, and
shaping the product into it's final appearance. It can be measured in
editing hours and/or "finished video minutes" - and includes placing
the footage on the editing machine, cutting and maneuvering the video,
adding transitions, dissolves and titles, creating an opening and closing,
the royalty free music, motion backgrounds, and the graphics that are
used in the production. The price usually includes a
couple
finished DVDs which can have chapters and an opening menu - or one that will
start playing as soon as it is inserted into a player. Generally if you want
copyrighted music/content, it will be your responsibility to obtain the
proper licenses and material (which is generally very difficult to do).
Please note: The following are for you to estimate
charges if you need to find out if we are in the ballpark for your job.
All jobs are bid prior to contract and can be based on hourly time, half or
full day rates, or complete estimates - but the following should give
you somewhat of a ballpark estimate.

| Corporate
|
$70 per hour - 1 camera. 2nd
stationary camera at $25/ hour. 2 hour minimum + travel and
whether an assistant is required. |
$70 / edit bay hour. You can estimate
about $75 per finished video/ DVD minute - or if it is a tight edit and short
- time will be at $70 / edit bay hour |
Quality corporate work generally requires additional time setting iup, editing
content, creating logos, openings, transitions. lower thirds and
closings, and reviewing, reviewing, reviewing - and deadlines are
generally much tighter.
Here's an example of some
corporate
work.

| Life story / Montage/ Funeral |
$70 / hr |
or count on about $25 per finished DVD minute
total price for content and editing.. |
Generally a script needs to be created to give direction to the video
content. If content such as still pictures can be digitally acquired in
an organized order (appropriately named as follows: 1-001.jpg,
1-002.jpg, 1-003.jpg, 2-001.jpg, 2-002.jpg, etc.) ( named
and number per segment and in the order of presentation), costs can be
kept reasonable and you can save money.
A typical (which there is none) life story will be in the range of
$350-500
Here is some examples of
Montage /
Funeral work.
|
|
| Event (like plays and
conventions and meetings and music bands) |
$70/$95 per hour - 2 hour minimum-
including setup time |
$70 per editing hour - time really
depends on how much editing is required. A song edited with B-Roll
and cuts between cameras can run $50/$100 per finished minute. |
Events includes school plays, bands or
groups performing concerts or entertainment content. Generally, there
are fewer cuts and content is longer - therefore editing time is
computed based on editing time and is not based on finished DVD minute time.
An typical (which there is none) edited hour event with titles placed
on a DVD is $350-500.

Event Work.

We
believe in reality wedding production. That means show the ceremony and
reception and don't glorify it with glitzy photos or enhanced lighting
or glows, etc. that really don't add to the ceremony. We like a
simple montage set to your favorite song. We can add a childhood
to adult montage as an additional item if you would like. We
believe in making your wedding memorable, having great sound
and creating a DVD that in 1 or 5 or 20
years will bring back the essence of your ceremony.l
We can set up a "congratulations" camera for folks to record their
verbal acknowlegement and tell a story or two..
Here is some examples of our
wedding work. And a
Wedding montage.
And Another. And a
funeral. And another funeral.
By the way - we don't do many weddings - Weekends are often filled
with other work for us. But for a special wedding - like yours - we
often find it fun to do. Call us.
